Curriculum
At School of Transformation in Boksburg, we offer different educational pathways for learners who may need smaller classes, remedial support, individual attention, a slower pace or a more practical way of learning.
Our aim is simple: learners should not feel like “slow learners”. They should feel supported, capable and able to make progress in the right environment.
Supportive Mainstream CAPS Curriculum – Grades R to 12
Our supportive mainstream programme follows the CAPS curriculum and is designed for learners who can follow mainstream academics but benefit from:
- smaller classes
- structured routines
- individual attention
- remedial support
- appropriate accommodations
- additional academic support
This environment can benefit learners with ADHD, dyslexia, learning difficulties, attention challenges and other neurodiverse learning needs.
Each learner has an Individualised Education Programme (IEP) to identify strengths, learning needs and areas requiring additional support.
Technical Occupational Curriculum (TOC) – Skills for Life and Work
Skills for Life and Work
For learners who thrive through practical, hands-on learning, we offer a Technical Occupational and skills-based pathway.
Programmes include:
- Hospitality
- Electrical
- Computer Applications Technology
- practical life and workplace skills
The focus is on helping learners develop practical competence, confidence and skills for further training or employment.
I.E.P and Bridging Class:
Our IEP support and Bridging Classes provide more focused intervention for learners who have fallen behind or need additional help with:
- reading
- comprehension
- spelling
- numeracy
- mathematics
- foundational learning gaps
Learners may receive up to four hours of focused IEP support per week.
In the Foundation Phase, Bridging Classes are kept small, with approximately 10 learners, their own teacher and access to classroom support assistants.
From Grade 4 upwards, learners may follow an adapted programme that prepares them either for further academic progression or for a skills-based pathway.
FET Phase (Grades 10, 11 & 12)
Preparing Learners for the National Senior Certificate
Our FET learners work towards the National Senior Certificate while continuing to benefit from smaller classes, individual attention and structured support.
Subject choices may include:
- English Home Language
- Afrikaans First Additional Language
- Life Orientation
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Business Studies
- Tourism
- Computer Applications Technology
- Engineering Graphics and Design
- Consumer Studies
