Curriculum
Curriculum
At The School of Transformation, we follow the CAPS curriculum as prescribed by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE).
Our supportive mainstream stream caters for learners in Grades R to 12 who benefit from smaller classes, structured routines, and personalised attention.
We combine academic excellence with emotional and social support to help each child reach their full potential. Teachers receive weekly in-service training to manage attention challenges, learning differences, and classroom behaviour effectively.
Every learner also receives an Individualised Education Programme (IEP) that identifies strengths, targets specific learning goals, and ensures consistent progress at the right pace.
Technical Occupational Curriculum (TOC) – Skills for Life and Work
For learners who are practically minded or excel with hands-on learning, we offer the Technical Occupational Curriculum (TOC).
This stream provides an alternative to the traditional academic route, focusing on skills-based education that prepares learners for the workplace.
Our TOC learners are trained in Computer Applications Technology and Hospitality, gaining valuable technical and life skills that open doors to future employment or entrepreneurship.
Classes are small and supportive, with a strong emphasis on practical application, teamwork, and problem-solving.
This curriculum empowers learners to gain both confidence and purpose, ensuring they leave school ready for real-world success.
I.E.P and Bridging Class:
At The School of Transformation, we recognise that every learner has different needs and may require additional support to reach their full potential.
Our Individualised Education Programme (I.E.P.) and Bridging Classes are additional support structures designed to help learners strengthen their reading, comprehension, and numeracy skills while catching up on learning backlogs. Each learner receives up to four hours of focused I.E.P. sessions per week, allowing teachers to address specific academic challenges and rebuild confidence.
We have also introduced Bridging Classes to assist learners who are finding their current grade particularly challenging. These classes are not separate from our mainstream Grade R–12 programmes, but rather provide extra, targeted support. In the Foundation Phase, each grade has a corresponding bridging class — for example, a Grade 1 class and a Grade 1 Bridging Class — with about 10 learners, their own teacher, and classroom support assistants who move between classes as needed.
From Grade 4 and upwards, bridging learners follow an adapted curriculum designed to prepare them for the next academic level or for vocational training within our Technical Occupational stream. This structure ensures that every learner receives personalised attention, guided intervention, and measurable progress without being separated from the broader school community.
FET Phase (Grades 10, 11 & 12)
In the Further Education and Training (FET) Phase, we prepare learners in Grades 10–12 to achieve their National Senior Certificate (NSC) through the CAPS curriculum.
All subjects are taught by qualified subject specialists who focus on conceptual understanding, academic excellence, and exam readiness.
Core Subjects:
English • Afrikaans • Mathematics • Business Studies • Computer Applications Technology • Life Orientation
Optional Subjects:
Learners may select subjects that align with their strengths and future study goals. Options include Consumer Studies, Tourism, and Engineering Graphics and Design (EGD).
Our small class sizes ensure that learners engage closely with their teachers, ask questions freely, and receive immediate feedback on their work. This personal interaction builds confidence and supports consistent academic progress.
The School of Transformation is UMALUSI accredited, reflecting our commitment to high educational standards and to providing learners with a recognised and respected National Senior Certificate that prepares them for further studies or entry into the workplace.
